Wanted: student course instructors for school programme

09.08.2017

Do you enjoy conveying technical and scientific subject matter? Students at the Department of Mechanical Engineering are invited to apply to take part in the "Technology for Girls" school programme.

The idea behind the "agentur Mädchen in Wissenschaft und Technik" is to encourage girls and young women to take an interest in science and technology, and to widen their horizons when choosing a degree course or career path. The organisation, part of the Technical University of Munich, is now looking for suitable students from the university to act as course instructors in the school programme "Technology for Girls". Participation will be on a freelance basis and its scope can be designed to suit the individual concerned.

The core of the programme will be projects in schools in and around Munich in which school students will work in mobile laboratories under technical supervision. They will learn in an interactive, hands-on and enjoyable way – a method being used in the fields of architecture, chemistry, information technology and physics. The "agentur Mädchen" offers future course instructors qualified training, lasting several days, in the subject matter and teaching methods.

Both Bachelor and Master degree students (from 3rd/4th semester for BA students) may apply, as well as doctoral candidates in the areas of natural science and technology. Candidates require to be interested in and enjoy working with girls, as well as be open and sensitive to gender-specific teaching of scientific and technological subjects.

Closing date for applications is 15 September 2017.
