Chair of Internal Combustion Engines

Welcome to the Institute of Internal Combustion Engines’ website of the Technische Universität München. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Georg Wachtmeister has been the professor of the institute since April 2004.

The institute’s objective is to conduct parallel ground teaching innovative research for practical applications on the subject of combustion engines, which will find global recognition. In accordance with our partners, all attained knowledge will be passed on to the students through master's and bachelor's theses, as well as lectures. Thus, the training meets the current requirements needed for an engineer who intends to work in the field of engine research and development.

The chair is represented at two locations in the Munich area. Besides the office at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Garching, the chair of internal combusion engines runs the Engine Laboratory in Munich-Moosach, containing the test benches, workshops and labs.
