In a comparison covering the whole of Bavaria, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has been placed under the criterion "International orientation of the Master degree course" in the leading group of the CHE higher education ranking of Master courses. This is the result of a survey of Master degree students, carried out in summer semester 2019, which has now been published. Apart from the student ratings and the international orientation of the course, the ranking also looks at the transition into the MA course and such criteria as the department's research performance.
The TUM Department of Mechanical Engineering has achieved top places in the large international research rankings for many years and counts as one of the most successful mechanical engineering departments worldwide. In May the CHE Higher Education Ranking 2019 placed the degree course at the department in the top group; the only department in the comparison to be placed in the leading group in three of the four most important categories.
The CHE Higher Education Ranking is the most comprehensive and most detailed ranking in German-speaking countries. Apart from facts about the degree course, teaching and research, it includes students' judgements of the study conditions at their university.
