Funding for consortium NFDI4Ing

The consortium NFDI4Ing for engineering sciences, with contribution of the Chair of Aerodynamics and Fluid Mechanics, is participating in the establishment and expansion of a nationwide infrastructure for research data.

With the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), the Federal and State Governments want to make research data more easily accessible in future. The Joint Science Conference (GWK) has now approved funding for the NFDI4Ing consortium for the establishment and expansion of the field of engineering sciences.

In the steering committee of the NFDI4Ing consortium, the Chair of Aerodynamics and Fluid Mechanics is represented by Prof. Dr. Christian Stemmer, who is also the spokesman of the "high-performance measurement and computation" section.

Over the next few years, Stemmer and his team plan to establish an effective data management system and to work on how researchers can gain access to the often very large data sets. The objective is also to define meaningful metadata for the retrieval and recovery of data sets.
