THE Ranking 2021: TUM Engineering on the first place in Germany again

In the Times Higher Education Ranking, the Technical University of Munich once again takes the German top position in the field of "Engineering & Technology". Worldwide it is ranked 24th.

Every year the British magazine "Times Higher Education" determines the best universities worldwide. For its ranking, the magazine evaluates the reputation of universities in their departments according to their teaching and research performance, based primarily on citations, teaching indicators and research volume.

In 2021, TUM's engineering sciences reach 24th place in THE World University Rankings in the subject area of "Engineering & Technology" in a worldwide comparison, which means that the department improved by one place compared to the previous year (2020: 25). In addition, it is again in the first place among German universities.

For years, the Department of Mechanical Engineering has occupied top positions in the major international research rankings.
