Not just one but two prize winners from the TUM Department of Mechanical Engineering: The spin-off, Lilium Aviation, and WARR Hyperloop, a student working group, have won VisionAwards this year for their innovative ideas.

Since 2006 the communication agencies c/c/c and Publicis Pixelpark have been giving VisionAwards to young and established companies, whose new business ideas are something out of the ordinary. In previous years, the prizewinners have included companies, such as Betterplace or myTaxi, which have since become well known.

This year the jury selected three spin-off companies from the Technical University of Munich, including Lilium Aviation, a spin-off from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The company received the award for its idea for an air taxi with an electric power train and drone technology.

With an additional prize, being awarded for the first time, the jury also recognised the achievements of a student working group from the Department of Mechanical Engineering: the VisionAward_17 Talents prize went to the WARR Hyperloop project, that had developed a cabin capsule for the high-speed Hyperloop tube train and won the Space X competition in January.
