Objectives

Upon successfully completing the LabVIEW internship the students are able to accomplish general thermodynamic data acquisition tasks with LabVIEW. In addition, structured, procedural working methods and teamwork will be trained during the course.

Description

The Chair of Thermodynamics offers every winter- and summer semester a LabVIEW course. The goal of the course is to provide participants with the basic operation of LabVIEW. The data-flow feature of LabVIEW as well as common design patterns, program structures and development strategies are learned using well-documented training material. Over the course of ten exercises different measurement techniques are used for measuring quantities like pressure and temperature. Furthermore, different control tasks are being covered. The data will be analyzed, visualized and documented with simple evaluation programs. The course concludes with a project in teams of 2 incl. documentation and presentation of the results. In the project the students have to independently solve a data acquisition task. The results are documented in a scientific report and presented in a ten-minute presentation of results.

Examination

Tests at the 2.-4. date about National Instruments Core 1 & 2 fundamentals (11,1% each). Hands-on exercises with hardware at the 5.-10. date (11,1% each).
