Casting and forming of metallic materials are the two major production-technics on which we concentrate our research at our institue.
In teaching, our philosophy is a balanced mix of basic principles and industrial application examples. Our students receive both, a comprehensive overview of manufacturing processes, tools, machines and plants as well as detailed research insights primarily into sheet metal processing and casting of metallic materials. Various internships offer the possibility to deepen the theoretical contents in a practical way (teaching)
On the research side, we are intensively engaged in stamping technology, material and process qualification of sheet metal, composite casting and environmentally friendly sand binder systems for foundry cores. (core competences)
In general we focus on a balanced relationship between basic research and application-oriented development in partnership with innovative industrial companies.
