As a bachelor student at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, you can choose to take part in the course "Project Seminar at the Department of Mechanical Engineering" in the 5th semester. In your project team you will experience the realistic work on a technical project. You choose a chair that will assign you the project task and accompany you through your work. The Center for Key Competences supports you for a successful cooperation in your team.

Target group

All bachelor students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from the 5th semester with start of studies WS 17/18.

Structure of the project seminar

During the project seminar you will take part in various events. The events are organised and led by the respective chairs on the one hand and by the Centre for Key Competences on the other. As part of the supervision by the Chair, you will receive input tailored specifically to the project topic and will be introduced to the operation of the machines and programs required for the project (hands-on tutorials). The project work is accompanied and guided by a chair supervisor. The project concludes with a project day where you, together with your team, present your project and take part in the ZSK World Café. In the area of soft skills you will be supported by the ZSK with an e-learning on the topic of project management and organisation in a team. You will also take part in a workshop on teamwork and conflict management. You will be accompanied by a project coach trained by the ZSK.

The Centre for Key Competences supports your project work with offers on various topics. You will complete an eLearning course during the project seminar and attend various events. A project coach is available to your team to accompany you through the project process.

Academic performance

For the course "Project Seminar at the Department of Mechanical Engineering" you will perform the following studies:

  • Preparation of a project schedule with milestones and reflection spirals
  • Delivery of an individual learning portfolio with short reflection reports
  • Creation and presentation of a poster about the course of the project and teamwork
